Where is my task file?
Your tasks live in the plain text .todo file you chose. Open Settings → Reveal in the app to show it in Finder. You can move, rename, back up, or sync it freely — it's an ordinary text file.
Are my tasks backed up?
The app keeps rolling local backups in its application-support folder, so a bad edit is recoverable. For real safety, keep the file itself in a synced/backed-up location (iCloud, Dropbox, git) — you own it, so it follows your normal backup routine.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Plainlist has no accounts, no servers, and no analytics. Everything stays on your device. See the privacy page for details.
What platforms are supported?
macOS 12+ ships now. A Windows desktop build is planned, with iOS and Android apps later — all around the same file-owned model.
Do I pay a subscription?
No. Plainlist is paid once. You buy the app and keep the file forever.
The app can't open my file / lost my tasks
Your .todo file is never deleted by the app. If the app opens empty, use Open to point it back at your file, or restore from a backup in the app-support folder. Still stuck? Open a private post on the feedback board and include your OS version and what you saw.
Reporting a bug
The more we know, the faster we fix. When you report an issue, please include your OS version, the app version (shown in Settings), and the steps that triggered it. Never send your task file unless asked.
